"The wilderness is not simply an area through which the pilgrim way unfortunately happens to pass. The wilderness is where we are to learn new things about ourselves and God" - NT Wright

But that's the point isn't it?

God wants us to be just like his son Jesus, because that is the example of the perfect human life isn't it?

In order for us to be conformed by God and his Spirit they (he) must be able to come close to us. And in order for that to happen there had to be blood to cover our sins. The perfect blood of Jesus.

God loves us and meets us right where we are and he works in us (if we allow him to) to make us more like his Son.

It's interesting that my Pastor is preaching on the same passage 1Pet 1:18.

For next time, how does works play out in the Christian's walk?
